About Me
Born in 1984, I grew up at Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany. Here, I went to school and made my high school diploma ('Abitur') followed by civilian service. Afterwards, I moved to Hamburg to study engineering at the technical university of Hamburg-Harburg with the focus on aircraft systems engineering.
Aviation in general has already been my passion for many years.
As I'm also fascinated from photography as a whole it was obvious to combine these interests. At the beginning, I made slides with an analogue Nikon SLR camera but switched relatively fast to digital photography in 2003.
About the Website
I launched this website on 06.03.2001 with the intention to present my aviation photos taken during various trips within Europe and around the World. While this purpose is still the same, the look and code of the homepage have elementary changed over time. This latest version is based on HTML / CSS with usage of Java, PHP and MySQL.
The pictures are hosted at flickr. I decided to do so because it brings many advantages like easy photo management. Besides, it also has future potential due to flickr´s very good API. So, as long as I do not have an own programmed picture database (which is indeed a goal for the future), it is the most convenient solution for me.
